I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we love Archer. He is an absolutely amazing dog! At eleven weeks, he weight 23 lbs!. He’s not only large, though. He is also mature. We’ve been able to teach him so much! A couple times a day, I ask him if he wants to “go to school,” and I teach him a new behavior and reinforce already-learned ones. He’s house-trained, knows his name, comes when called, can “sit,” “lie down,” and “stay,” and he rings a bell by the slider when he wants to go outside. He’s also getting awfully good on a leash. To me, he seems unbelievably intelligent.
You deserve so much credit for the care you gave to him. It’s very obvious he was raised by an attentive mama who socialized him and gave him lots of love. Thank you!
He seems SO happy here. He’s confident, curious, and playful. To my astonishment, he’s also quite well-behaved. If there is a brief moment where he’s left alone in a room, I usually return to find him playing with one of his toys. He loves being with us, but he’s also got an independent streak that is quite endearing. Yep, I think he’s pretty much perfect.
By the way, his favorite toy is the bird you gave to him when he came home with us. We also use the leash and collar you gave to him. I like the reminders of your wonderful care.
Well, I just wanted you to know how lucky we feel to have him, and that he’s getting daily overdoses of love. We feel like every day is Christmas because when we awake in the morning, we rush to see him in his warm kennel in the kitchen. (Very shortly, we’ll trust him to sleep next to my side of the bed in our own bedroom.)
Thank you, Amy. I will always feel indebted to you for your kindness to me, and for your amazing, kind, loving care of your puppies, especially Archie.
